Epoxide infrared spectra

Ring-stretch ("breathing"): Weak band near 1280-1230

Asymmetric ring deformation: Strong band near 950-815

Symmetric ring derfomation: Strong band near 880-750. Monosububstituted epoxides absorb near the higher end, disubstituted epoxides absorb near the lower end.

    1. Yeah "introduction to spectroscopy" here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B43zb8GUN7q2NFctdm9KajVTZ0E/view?usp=sharing

But there is at least one newer edition which you might prefer to look for

  4. Hi I had a question,
You notice a broad stretch at 3200-3500 in the it. The product is 2methyl-2-phenyloxirane

Is this an oh stretch but there's no oh in the structure

This is where the carbon oxygen bond stretch in the epoxide is seen

Can't tell as this is not diagnostic for this reaction

    Please answer..
